Ed Lau's Award-Winning Design Merges Biotechnology and Interior Design

The SeekIn Office design concept is rooted in the company's business nature - biotechnology. Lau used curvy lines and irregular shapes, reminiscent of cells, to create a unique and engaging workspace. The office's layout is spacious and clear, with a color scheme dominated by white and blue. This design choice aims to foster a sense of simplicity and clarity, a departure from the rigidity often associated with traditional office spaces.

One of the design's standout features is its commitment to sustainability. The office incorporates pot plants and a terrace garden complete with green plants, a fountain, and a seating area. The use of self-leveling cement for flooring and fire-proof plywood for partitions further underscores the design's eco-friendly approach.

The SeekIn Office project, completed in 2018 in Shenzhen, China, faced initial resistance from the client. However, the client eventually embraced and appreciated the design's uniqueness and relevance to their business. The design team, which included Eric Yu and Evans Ko alongside Ed Lau, managed to align the design with the client's business nature while incorporating sustainable elements.
